At the top of the home page you will see a flag with the words "Inici'o Espaņol", this is the link to our Spanish Language site. We have information about our service, operations, sales and company history on this site. As with any Internet site, this is a work in progress that will grow with our company as we move ahead. We invite all of you to visit both of our web sites and get back to us with your comments, ideas and questions. As always, we thank our employees for their hard work and dedication and our customers for their trust and continued support. We look forward to providing Quality Service throughout the new millennium.
Here are a few other notes to help keep you up to date. In the South Gate terminal we have moved our long-time receptionist, Kathy Reed, from the reception desk into the Customer Service Department. Anyone who knows Kathy can appreciate the great job she will do in Customer Service. To take over at the "front desk" is Irma Mendez. Irma has been doing a great job with her new responsibilities. Another new addition to our Customer Service Department is Maria Padilla. Maria has been with us for several months and is doing a very good job. We also moved Angie Garcia from the Accounts Receivable Department to the OS&D Department. Angie is very good at details and follow-through and will do a great job in this position. Taking over for Angie in the Accounts Receivable Department is Alicia Chiara. Alicia filled in at the receptionist position a few months ago and did such a good job that we asked her to help us in the A/R Department.
Just recently, Gene Stephens (South Gate) and family , booked a Mexican Riviera Cruise to "get away from it all." He didn't get too far as he learned that Jon England (Oakland) and family were on the same cruise! We understand that each of these men came back comparing their weight gain! How tight did you say your trousers were? We wanted to send a special Congratulations to South Gate Terminal Manager, Ruben Terrazas and wife, Christine, on the birth of their son, Gabriel. Any leads on truckloads of pampers and formula?!!!! Condolences go out to Stephanie Ibarra (South Gate) and family at the loss of their beloved Grandmother. Condolences to Henry Saldivar's family. Henry drove for L.A. Xpress for a number of years and recently passed on. We'll miss him. Speedy Recovery is wished for John Mayeda of the Truck Load Department. John has a couple more weeks of therapy to go!!! San Diego: Terminal Manager, Paul Latrielle, is feeling fantastic about his team members. Customer Service Rep. Melina Rivera is doing a great job! She was rewarded with a dinner gift certificate good for her and her boyfriend. Thanks Melina for going out of your way to be a great team member. Your efforts are felt by our Cal State Xpress Customers. We love our customers: Hitachi and Klingspore, two new additions to the Cal State Xpress family of Customers in San Diego!!!
Oakland: Terminal Manager, Jon England, is reporting in with great Pride for new team members on board. We have Sonya Lawson who is in the billing department and becoming more familiar with the customized billing requests of our customers. Lakesha Turner is responsible for providing customer
service and is learning new things daily! We have Dave Miller in operations. Dave is responsible for the daily dock activities and doing a fine job. Debbie Par has recently come on board to back up Jon in dispatch. She is in training and learning quickly! Welcome to the Cal State Xpress Team!
Success is What You Make It
He is a musician who has supported himself and his family for 15 years. He and his wife, who is a stay-at-home mom, live quite modestly month to month, but he has never had to take a "day job" to keep the family afloat. She is a CPA, running her own accounting firm. She and her attorney husband live in one of the best neighborhoods, belong to a country club, drive top-of-the-line cars and send their children to private school. Which of these individuals would you say is a success? The answer is either, neither or both. While society might consider the accountant to be more of a success than the musician, in truth, success depends less on the eye of the beholder than on the intention and experience of the people involved. In these cases, both the musician and the accountant consider themselves to be highly successful. The musician's goal in life is to support himself and his family while writing and playing his music. He's doing that and, for him, that qualifies as success. He's extremely proud and pleased with what he's accomplished. So is the accountant. Regardless of what society might say, with a slight twist of intent, neither might consider themselves to be successful. If the musician had sought the things from life that the accountant has achieved, he wouldn't be feeling very successful. If the accountant craved a more creative line of work, free from the stress of overhead and financial responsibilities that running a business entails, she would be wondering why her seeming success feels so hollow. So, what about you? Look at your life through your own intentions. Are you on track with your goals? Are you measuring your success against what you value most. Or are you chasing external models of what constitutes success? Only the fulfillment of your own true desires will provide the satisfaction and feeling of success you seek. So, judge yourself by your own intentions and support others in doing the same. Claim your success, and you'll find life is much more rewarding.
